More than a recital

One tremendously valuable benefit of membership with Right Start Music is having access to our Right Start Performance program. This is an excellent opportunity for students to get together with other students under the guidance of our Music Mentors to learn and experience what it is like to play in a band situation with other musicians. It is an invaluable tool for students who desire to play in a band or who just want to get up on stage and have a great time. Watching your child’s musical dreams come true on stage is one of the most gratifying things you can do as a parent, and seeing them show off what they’ve accomplished is every bit as rewarding for you as it is for them.

The benefits of learning how to play an instrument and how to play in a band situation will teach your children valuable lessons that go beyond music and that will stick with them for a lifetime. It will teach them the value of working toward a goal as they prepare for the songs they’ll be performing with their teacher, and they’ll see firsthand how hard work pays off. They’ll also learn from our experienced Music Mentors how to work together as a team. A band is more than the sum of it’s parts, it is how those parts work together toward the common goal. Each band member has a specific purpose and we’ll teach each student where they fit into the puzzle as a singer, guitarist, bass player, drummer, or keyboardist. Performing on stage in a musical setting will also prepare them and give them confidence for other life skills such as public speaking and being in the spotlight such as in sports. But above all else, getting up on stage and playing in a band is fun!

Our Right Start Performance Program is expected to kick off in the summer of 2011. We will have week-long camps during the summer and will continue the program through the school year by having two “rehearsals” per month, as well as concerts every few months. Further details will be provided as we approach the summer, and as a member you will be informed of all pertinent information as it is made available. Stay tuned!
