Right Start Music's policies have been developed to encourage and promote the enjoyable study of music in our students. Regular attendance by students is expected, both for their musical growth and to respect our teachers' schedules. Listed below are our current policies, which do change from time to time. Be sure to check back for the most up-to-date policies on an as-needed basis.

  • All memberships are month-to-month and payment is due in advance at the beginning of each month.

  • Thirty days notice is required in writing (email is acceptable) to discontinue lessons. Telling your teacher you do not plan to continue is not sufficient notice for cancelation.

  • Payment is accepted by e-check and credit card only.

  • Monthly membership dues are as follows:

  • 30 minute lessons: $170/month

  • 45 minute lessons: $235/month

  • 60 minute lessons: $299/month

  • 75 minute lessons: $363/month

  • 90 minute lessons: $425/month

  • 105 minute lessons: $490/month

  • 120 minute lessons: $555/month

  • Membership is the same each month whether the lesson day falls within the month four times or five times.

  • We believe that everybody's time is valuable, including our teachers' time. For this reason, lessons canceled by students with at least 24 hours notice will be accounted for by students receiving an online curated lesson that the teacher will prepare. A curated lesson can include PDFs, videos, mp3s, helpful links, etc., and is considered a make-up lesson. This will be prepared by the teacher either during the time that the normally scheduled lesson would have taken place, or at another time that is conducive to the teacher's schedule. This allows us to provide value to students while respecting our teachers' time, and also helps ensure our teachers can be more consistent and reliable for lessons by not having to rearrange their schedules.

  • Any canceled the same day will be charged for as usual and it will be at the teacher's discretion as to whether the lesson will receive a curated lesson or not. Twenty four hours notice is required to guarantee that a curated lesson will be given.

  • Any lesson in which the student and/or parent is not home and the teacher is not notified ahead of time will be forfeited without receiving a curated lesson, make-up lesson, lesson credit, or refund.

  • Teachers may conduct an in-person make-up lesson instead of a curated lesson if they choose.

  • Lessons canceled by teachers will receive an in-person make-up lesson to be arranged at a mutually beneficial time.

  • Right Start teachers reserve the right to cancel any lesson if they believe it is unsafe to travel due to severe weather conditions. In the event that this happens they should reach out to you as soon as possible to inform you.

  • Right Start teachers reserve the right to end a lesson at any time if they deem the student to be sick with the possibility of spreading sickness. This is beneficial for everybody, including our teachers, their other students, and also your family. Any lesson your teacher ends for this reason will be counted as a completed lesson and will not receive a refund, make-up, or curated lesson. Please be sure to let your teacher know ahead of time if your student is dealing with sickness.

  • It is our desire to be there to teach your student as consistently as possible and these policies are in place to help make that possible. Your understanding and cooperation are much appreciated and help make things work smoothly for all teachers and students.

  • Either the parent or a designated representative over 18 years old must be present in the home at all times during a lesson.

  • If the teacher arrives at the home and nobody is present, the lesson will be canceled and shall be treated as a completed lesson.

  • If the parent or designated representative is not present at the home with the student at the time the lesson is supposed to commence, the teacher shall not enter the home but shall wait outside for no more than 10 minutes until the parent or designated representative is present, after which time the lesson shall be canceled and treated as a "missed lesson."

  • If the parent or designated representative must leave the home at any time and for any reason during a lesson, the lesson shall immediately terminate and shall be charged as a completed lesson.

  • No lesson shall be conducted in a bedroom in the home unless there is no other practical location in the home for the lesson to take place.

  • If the lesson  must be conducted in a room with a door, the door shall remain open at all times during the lesson.
